Telugu Cultural Fest

Telugu cultural fest had been successfully organized in NITC once again.

Its very happy to organize this function on telugu new year festival UGADI.

We decided to have the function on sunday 25th march. But because of busy slots on the weekends, we were unable to get a hall. So we got a chance to celebrate this function on a fine UGADI day. We formed a team to organize things. Srinivas(PG- Sec), haranath, sudeep, sujith, kalavathi, parimala, sowjanya and my self formed a team to start work. As usual i got food section :-)

Work started with super-fast speed. Haranath and team were invited some guests from calicut and near by places of calicut. The guests are telugu people working in some companies, airport and in police department. It was a nice feeling that many telugu people gathered in one place.

We decided the food menu. We decided the menu as pulihora, daddojanam, chekkara pongali, payasam, mirapakaya bajji and dal with tomato. We finalized the menu. Prepared the list of items that we need to prepare this items. Our college canteen people helped a lot in preparing the food.

As we scheduled, the function started on tuesday evening 6:30 pm(UGADI is not a holiday in NITC so we had the function in the evening). Our Director G.R. C. Reddy gaaru, he is also from andhra pradesh. Guests are Niranjan babu, sasi, perumella, anjaneyulu gaaru. They are working in different places. Some Ph.D telugu families are also attended the function.

Function started at 6:30 pm. Totally 350 people gathered in Aryabhatta hall. Kalavathi did anchoring. Function started by our director with jyothi prajwalana. Then followed by a vandana geetham by vasu. Till 8:00 pm we had some speeches from our director and guests. Some students also prepared speech. Everything is working as per the expectations and schedule.

All the speeches were excellent. Our director speech was so impressive. He was using some english words in the speech. Students caught this and started shouting to have the speech in pure telugu. He explained that he started with telugu medium and changed to english medium after 10th and now he neither belongs to telugu nor to english. That was too impressive. Another impressive speech was given by niranjan babu gaaru. He said that student life is precious and we can achieve anything that we want in this life. Never step back in this age, he added.

Then, some of our students gave their speeches. In that, sainath speech was so impressive. He started that, beside calicut there is arabian sea, but inside nit calicut, there is telugu sea. Every one impressed with that. He also wrote some kavithalu. Some students shared their own feelings too.

We conducted some games under TTCA. Our director distributed the prizes.

One great news is, one telugu student in B.Tech 3rd year EEE got GATE 2007 AIR-1. Director appreciated him for the excellent performance in GATE.

We started dinner at 8:00 pm. We served ugadi pachadi and dinner also. Everyone enjoyed andhra food after a long time. Pulihora was the center of attraction for the dinner. Most of the people said thanks for preparing excellent food. It was my pleasure to serve the food for 350 people. We had the dinner till 9:00pm.

At 9:00 pm, cultural programs were started. B.Tech students prepared a skit. They used many telugu movie dialogues. It was very nice show by them. My M.Tech juniors are very energitic compared to us. Many people came forward to perform dance and singing. We had couple of dances and 3 songs. Then one of my junior did mimicry. Every one enjoyed the function up to the maximum extent.

The function is over by 11:00 pm. We cleared aryabhatta hall and removed our banners and came back to hostel at 11:30pm.

శ్రీ సర్వజిథ్ నామ సంవత్సర శుభాకాంక్షలు.

  2. Nice to see that our telugu population in calicut has increased and our juniors using TTCA as a forum to unite our telugus in Calicut area. I was secretary of TTCA calicut during 1995-1996 and I am very happy to see to see such things happening in Calicut.
